BOLOGNA: AN INTRODUCTION

Although not exactly a very big tourist city, Bologna has become very famous because of its very prestigious Alma Mater Studiorum. The University of Bologna has for centuries attracted students from across the globe. The visitor is usually of a curious and attentive nature, one that is visiting Bologna for maybe an exhibition or else the visitor who wants to get away from the usual tourist traps and savour a real Italian city with charm and entertainment.
There is an historic centre of Bologna which is tucked away by ancient walls segregating it from the rest of the city. There is a Porte as well as a Ring Road that is very similar to the ancient Roman fortifications and its small Roman roads in around the old centre are very unique. The Old part of the city is where the locals and the students live in the same neighbourhood and the Old part has become the cultural and more social part of the city.
There are beautiful Renaissance palaces tucked away around the city which has lots of turrets and porticos.
